In Nova Scotia
Driver's licence and ID card
Change your address with the Registry of Motor Vehicles within 30 days of a move, using the online Change an Address service or by visiting Registry of Motor Vehicles or Access Nova Scotia. The change updates your file, but to show the new address on the card itself you need a replacement licence or a new ID card.
Vehicle registration
One address change with the Registry of Motor Vehicles updates your address for all registry services, including your vehicle permit. It must be done within 30 days of a move. To show the new address on the permit itself, you need a replacement permit.
Health card
You can change your address with MSI online by signing in to an account, or by sending the Health Card Change Form by mail or fax or leaving it in the MSI Resident Services secure drop box. If you contact MSI Resident Services to change an address, your Health Card information is updated right away.
Health coverage when you move here
If you move to Nova Scotia permanently from another province or territory, coverage usually starts on the first day of the third month after you become a resident. Contact your previous province or territory to make sure you are covered until then.
