Driver's license and ID
Within 60 days of moving within North Carolina, you must update your physical address with NCDMV and get a replacement license or ID. In many cases you can do this online, or you can order a replacement card at a driver license office or self-service kiosk.
Vehicle registration
Address updates for valid digital vehicle registrations are completed when you update your driver license information online. From Oct. 1, 2026, you do not need to get a replacement registration card.
Voter registration
Existing NCDMV customers can update their voter registration through the DMV online voter registration application. Others can send a signed voter registration application to their county board of elections. Changes are due 25 days before Election Day.
